Agriculture, 1998 "A Memorial to Agriculture in the Santa Clara Valley." Commissioned by the city of San Jose, site located at West Santa Clara Street at HWY 87 in San Jose, CA |
| Remembering Agriculture had several incarnations
before its design was finalized. The final design is installed on Santa
Clara Street between Highway 87 an the Guadalupe River and is comprised
of a series of large scale objects that suggest an overgrown trellis
like farmhouse, barn, and windmill. The work pays homage to San Jose's
agricultural history and also brings the artist's practice full circle,
to his Wisconsin farm roots. --Susan O'Malley |
